Brandenburg Kapital Invests in Veganz Group AG

Veganz closes an equity round of 11 million euros and will use it to start building up production

Berlin, 12. August 2021 – Veganz Group AG - Germany's most innovative food brand in 2021 (source: YouGov/Handelsblatt) - today announces the successful completion of the second tranche of its equity capital increase. Having one of the leading brands for plant-based foods in Germany, the company was also able to bring another well-known investor on board as part of its second tranche with Brandenburg Kapital.

Veganz Group AG was already able to convince important investors as part of the first tranche of the pre-IPO private placement in July 2021. In addition to the award-winning Paladin One fund as lead investor, the company Develey Holding and several private investors, including Marcel Maschmeyer and Michael Durach, took a stake in Veganz Group AG.

Brandenburg Kapital, the leading venture capital company in the Brandenburg region, is now one of the Veganz investors. As one of the few independent vegan companies in Germany with a unique full range of vegan products and the award for Most Innovative Food Brand 2021, the new funds will be used, among other things, for a modern second production facility. In the future, in addition to plant-based alternatives to classic dairy products, such as blue cheese and Camembert, vegan meat and fish alternatives will be produced on more than 9,000 square meters of production area.

Thanks to the new "Veganz Food Factory", 17 million tons of CO2 can be saved in the production of plant-based commercial goods in 2024 alone. But that's not all: in the categories of fish alternatives and soft cheese alternatives, Veganz is already one of the top five brands listed in the Nielsen Veggie category. This is reflected not least in their sales revenues. In the vegan cheese alternatives segment alone, Veganz was able to increase its sales by more than 275 percent in the first half of 2021 (as of June 2021).

With continued positive business development - as of the end of July, Veganz Group AG's customer sales revenues grew by 22 percent compared to the same period last year - solid financing and a good capital market environment, Veganz Group AG is planning an IPO within the next twelve months to give itself another option to finance the enormous growth opportunities for the future.

Jan Bredack, CEO of Veganz Group AG: "We are incredibly proud that in Brandenburg Kapital, a subsidiary of Brandenburg's development bank ILB, we not only have an investor, but above all a strategic sparring partner at our side who is supporting us in setting up our second production facility on the outskirts of Berlin. We are currently building Europe's largest production facility for purely plant-based products on the A10 Berliner Ring freeway in Werder/Havel."

Dr. Torsten Fiegler, Investment Manager at Brandenburg Kapital: "Veganz's own production and the associated depth of value creation will bind sustainable know-how and generate competitive advantages. It will also provide many flexitarians with high-quality offers to sustainably change their diet."
