Brandenburg Kapital - News from the portfolio companies

Three of Brandenburg Kapital’s portofolio companies have been nominated for prestigious Brandenburg awards

Potsdam, October 2021. The jury decisions have been made. In addition to the nominations already known for the Brandenburg Future Award 2021 - Pentracor GmbH and Unicaps GmbH - Brandenburg Kapital is proud of Dryad Networks GmbH’s nomination for the Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award 2021. Both awards honor special entrepreneurial achievements and innovations. The three companies nominated from Brandenburg Kapital's portfolio were selected from among many applicants for their diversity and sustainability. We are keeping our fingers crossed!

The medical technology company Pentracor is engaged in the development and marketing of specific adsorbers. Their first product -- PentraSorb®CRP - is used in the treatment of acute heart attacks and covid patients.

Unicaps develops, produces and markets aluminum-free coffee and tea capsules made from renewable raw materials. The coffee and tea both come from organic production and, together with the sustainably-produced capsule, ensure ecologically-sound enjoyment.

Dryad Networks is a provider of Silvanet, an asset management system for the ultra-early detection of forest fires. The system combines solar-powered gas sensors with artificial intelligence to detect fires in less than 60 minutes and to report them over a wide-area wireless network.

Brandenburg Kapital GmbH has supported the companies, among other ways, with financing from the Early-stage and Growth Fund. The funds for the Early-stage and Growth Fund, which was set up on behalf of the Brandenburg Ministry of Economics, are currently provided by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and by ILB.

About the Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award

With the Innovation Award, the economic administrations of the two states of Berlin and Brandenburg annually honor innovative and outstanding work from the region. With the involvement of business enterprises and other institutions such as private partners, the prize was and is also a prize of the economy for the economy. Since it was first offered in 1984 (jointly with Brandenburg since 1992), there have been more than 160 award winners and over 4,000 applications. In 2020, the number of applications rose to 221. This marked once again an increase over the previous year despite the more difficult conditions caused by the Corona situation - a clear sign of the great innovative potential of the two states. This year's awards ceremony will take place on 26 November.
