Berlin, Henningsdorf - January 2022. Joint protection start-up Betterguards Technology has been selected by the north american professional basketball league NBA (National Basketball Association) for future collaboration and is one of the five winners of the NBA Launchpad program. The NBA league's current initiative focuses on the sourcing, evaluating and testing of new technologies that impact the future of basketball.

More than 300 companies competed in the international competition for the coveted four innovation categories. Betterguards, along with four other companies from the USA and the United Kingdom, won the competition and will now work with advisors from the league and the teams together with the NBA over the next six months to develop a product that significantly reduces the negative impact of ankle injuries on basketball players.

The technology start-up Betterguards develops bandages for sports, leisure and work. The unique ankle protection for sport activities combines protection and freedom of motion at the same time. They function like a safety belt. This pursues the goal of preventing ligament injuries.

Brandenburg Kapital GmbH, a subsidiary of the Brandenburg development bank ILB, has been supporting the company since 2015 with financing from its Seed and Growth Funds.
