Brandenburg Kapital invests in smart services company Solandeo GmbH

Solandeo secures additional growth capital for the development of smart metering and forecasting solutions for the heat and mobility transition

Berlin/Potsdam, 22 March 2022 – Brandenburg Kapital, a subsidiary of the Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg, as well as renowned private investors are investing in the fast-growing technology company Solandeo GmbH, which operates digital, intelligent metering and remote control technology for renewable energy plants. In a first step, EWE AG had already invested in the company in June 2021, as had the existing shareholders. The total volume of the financing round amounts to around seven million euros.

The European Green Deal and the associated CO2 reduction require a transformation in the energy sector that intelligently integrates the numerous and newly emerging decentralized energy sources. This requires the reliable provision of up-to-date data via smart meters (digital measuring devices) as well as their translation into usable intelligence for the control of plants, for grid operation as well as for energy trading. Solandeo's real-time data and forecasts help plant operators and commercial consumers improve their own energy management.

Since its founding in 2014, Solandeo has successfully positioned itself as a leading smart metering provider of decentralized systems, as well as of artificial intelligence-based forecasting and forecast management solutions. With its offerings, Solandeo manages seven gigawatts of decentralized generation capacity, from residential photovoltaic systems to the offshore wind farm.

Solandeo's smart metering customers currently include leading project developers, operators and contracting providers of decentralized energy systems, as well as providers of photovoltaic systems and battery storage systems. In addition, 40 distribution grid operators already rely on Solandeo's forecasting solutions, as do leading direct marketers.

Friedrich Rojahn, Managing Director of Solandeo: "We are excited to have attracted experienced financial investors to Solandeo alongside EWE AG. With their support, we are developing solutions for the heat and mobility transformation. In this way, we are supporting the transformation of the energy market away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energies."

Dr. Torsten Fiegler, Senior Investment Manager at Brandenburg Kapital: "Solandeo has successfully established itself in a prospering future market. With the additional capital, we will support the company in further accelerating its diversification in the market segments and in Europe."
