Doctorflix Secures €2 Million Seed Funding to Re-think Continuous Medical Education

Potsdam/Berlin – 27. June 2023 – Doctorflix, a next-generation e-learning platform re-thinking the consumption and exchange of medical knowledge, has announced the successful completion of a €2 million seed funding round. The funds raised will be strategically allocated for the extension of product offerings, the growth of the team, and the development of the platform, to continue the mission of simplifying and democratising medical knowledge by interlinking doctors, hospitals, and industry players.

The seed round was led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and Brandenburg Kapital, with significant contributions from angel investors Christian Wallwiener (WMC Healthcare), Björn Jopen (Jale VC), Johannes Roggendorf (Medwing), Alexander von Tschirnhaus (Cubitabo), and Superangels (Franziska Majer, Alexander Brand, and Florian Gottschaller), as well as continued backing from our initial pre-seed investors.

Amid the swift shift from analogue to digital fostered by the pandemic, a surge in demand for online medical education emerged. This has exposed a gap that is currently not being effectively addressed by existing market players. This gap is where Doctorflix steps in, with a one-stop digital solution for Continuous Medical Education (CME) being offered. Diverse, high-quality content is provided, along with an interactive e-learning experience, and a vibrant community for knowledge exchange is fostered.

In a pioneering move, Doctorflix utilises AI technology to create lifelike avatars of leading experts, making premier medical knowledge accessible globally. This innovation broadens the reach of high-quality medical education and knowledge exchange is fostered.

The platform not only meets the needs of healthcare professionals, but for the first time, it democratises the creation of content by involving doctors, the industry, and hospitals. In a market characterized by industry-sponsored content, the platform empowers doctors for the first time to easily produce and provide independent, high-quality content. This allows a wider variety of content to be offered to the audience. Simultaneously, it offers visibility and interaction opportunities to industry partners, while providing hospitals, like Charité, with a digital educational infrastructure.

"Our partnership with Charité exemplifies how Doctorflix can provide a comprehensive, accessible educational environment," shared Dr. Hans Lennartz, co-founder of Doctorflix, adding, "We eagerly anticipate forging similar partnerships in the future as we continue to re-think medical education."

Leopold von Schultzendorff, also co-founder of Doctorflix, stated, "This funding propels us further towards our mission of delivering flexible and practice-oriented learning to medical professionals worldwide. We envision a world where medical education is seamlessly integrated with the demands of healthcare, especially in light of the ongoing scarcity of skilled healthcare professionals. We extend our sincere gratitude to our new investors, but also our pre-seed investors, including Martina Samwer and Peter Bristot (22 ventures), Michael Riegel (Comtravo), Julian Hueck (Tink), Jonathan Ludwig (Fantium), Thomas Bachem (Code University), Stefan Peukert (Masterplan), and LA Finance for their instrumental role in catalysing our initial growth."

The successful closure of this seed round testifies to the rising interest in digital health and edtech sectors and positions Doctorflix at the cutting edge of this exciting wave. Kilian von Berlichingen, Senior Investment Manager from HTGF, shares his excitement, "Doctorflix has the potential to redefine medical education with its distinctive approach. We are proud to support their mission to transform how medical professionals stay updated and continue to learn."

Katja Kühnel, Senior Investment Manager at Brandenburg Kapital, added, "The shortage of healthcare professionals is a key and growing challenge for our society. The founders have chosen a smart way to reorganise medical education and drive the necessary digitalisation in this field. The complementary skillset of the management team and the ambitious vision of Doctorflix convinced us."
