Brandenburg Kapital - News about ME Energy - Liquid Electricity GmbH

Potsdam, 3 December 2020. The innovators of the year 2020 have been selected.

ME Energy - Liquid Electricity GmbH from Wildau is one of the 5 winners of this year's Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award. The company enables the profitable and widespread use of electromobility. A new charging solution was developed for this purpose: the "Charging Node". This enables electricity to be recharged for a range of 200 km in just ten minutes, regardless of any existing infrastructure. High costs and limitations caused by the power grid connection are eliminated and for the first time the operation and use of charging infrastructure becomes profitable.

Brandenburg Kapital GmbH has supported the company as first investor with financing from their Early-Stage and Growth Fund since 2019. The funds for the Early-Stage and Growth Fund, set up on behalf of the Brandenburg Ministry of Economic Affairs, are currently provided by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and ILB’s own resources.

About the Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award

With the Innovation Award, the economic administrations of the two states of Berlin and Brandenburg annually honor innovative and outstanding work from the region. With the involvement of business enterprises and other institutions as private partners, the prize was and is also a prize of business for business. Since the first award was presented in 1984 (since 1992 together with Brandenburg), there have been more than 160 award winners and over 4,000 applications. In 2020, the number of applications rose to 221, once again an increase over the previous year, despite the more difficult conditions caused by the COVID-19 situation - a clear sign of the great innovation potential of the two states.

About ME Energy - Liquid Electricity GmbH

ME Energy – Liquid Electricity GmbH is the first supplier and operator of off-grid and CO2-neutral fast-charging stations. The products and services of ME Energy enable the economic and comprehensive breakthrough of electromobility. The company was founded on 28 February 2019 by Alexander Sohl (CEO) and In's Adler (CTO) in Wildau, Brandenburg, where the company headquarters is located. The company was awarded the 2018 StartGreen Award and the 2019 Special Award for Sustainability and the Best Concept at the Berlin-Brandenburg Business Plan Competition (BPW). In addition, ME Energy was able to secure the state victory for Brandenburg with the 2020 KfW Award.

The market entry with pilot fast-charging stations took place in July 2020, and series production is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2021.
