Successful exit from our portfolio - Arioso Systems acquired by Bosch Sensortec
Potsdam - April 2022. Brandenburg Kapital, the VC arm of Brandenburg's development bank ILB, successfully sold its shares in micro-speaker specialist Arioso Systems to Bosch Sensortec, a leading supplier of sensor solutions for consumer electronics, on April 27 this year.
Arioso Systems emerged from Fraunhofer IPMS and research work at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in 2019 and is one of the world's most innovative providers of MEMS-based micro-speaker technology. Brandenburg Kapital structured the seed financing as lead investor and has since supported the deep-tech in building the company. In 2020, Brandenburg Kapital joined High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen and three business angels in investing in Arioso Systems to enable the market entry of the micro speakers. Key employees were recruited for the company from the Technololgy Center at the Cottbus facility, and valuable developments were advanced in the process.
The acquisition presents itself as a perfect match: The Arioso team has developed the first chip-based micro speakers that are made of 100 percent silicon and are characterized by their small size and weight with maximum performance. This makes the technology particularly suitable for in-ear headphones and hearing aids. The acquisition of Bosch Sensortec will provide Arioso Systems with a further boost for further market penetration and product development.
